Wednesday’s commute reflects two big shifts: the multi-day Memorial Day weekend work on the 7, J/Z, and 4/5 wrapped at 5 a.m. Tuesday, and a new round of G train weeknight work between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand kicked off Tuesday night. Crews are modernizing signals on the Crosstown Line, so Brooklyn-Queens riders who lean on the G after 9:45 p.m. need a plan.
What Lines Are Affected Wednesday, May 27
G train: Weeknight shutdown, Court Sq ↔ Bedford-Nostrand
From 9:45 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, and again from 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, G trains are not running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
- Tuesday night (May 26-27): Free shuttle buses are making all G stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Court Sq, with a connection to 21 St-Queensbridge while Manhattan-bound F trains are rerouted.
- Wednesday night (May 27-28): Free T403 shuttle buses are making all G stops between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
The work supports the ongoing CBTC signal modernization on the Crosstown Line. South of Bedford-Nostrand, G service runs as usual.
7 train: Back to 34 St-Hudson Yards as of Monday morning
The four-day Memorial Day weekend shutdown of the 7 between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards ended at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Trains are now serving every station again. The free T320, T323, and T260 shuttle buses are no longer running. Heads up: more changes to 7 train stops in Queens kicked in Monday morning as part of the Flushing Line station renewal project that continues through 2027. Check the Planned Service Changes lookup before you head out if you board between Mets-Willets Point and Queensboro Plaza.
J/Z and 4/5: Memorial Day work ended at 5 a.m. Tuesday
The J/Z structural work between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av, and the 4/5 track replacement work that cut 4 trains back to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and suspended 5 service south of Grand Central, both finished at 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 26. The B107, T433, and Brooklyn-only 5 shuttles are all done. Full normal service is in effect for Wednesday.

How to Stay Ahead of Changes
Service changes can shift mid-day. The fastest sources are the MTA Planned Service Changes lookup and the MTA app, both of which update in real time. For the G specifically, the full 2026 G line work calendar lists every weeknight and weekend shutdown through June so you can plan beyond just this week.
