You know how to get to Yankee Stadium. But once you walk through Gate 6, a different set of logistics kicks in — and this is where fans waste time, miss Monument Park, or get caught off guard at the concession stand. Here is the inside guide, pulled from the Yankees’ official ballpark pages.
Your Phone Is Your Wallet and Your Ticket
Yankee Stadium is 100% cashless and 100% mobile ticket.
Tickets: Only the MLB Ballpark app is valid for entry. Screenshots of tickets are not accepted — the scanner reads a live rotating barcode. Add your tickets to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet before you leave home. Cell signal in the South Bronx on game nights can be unreliable, and a wallet-saved ticket works without a signal. Charge your phone fully before you leave.
Payments: Every concession stand, vendor, and merchandise shop inside the ballpark requires a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Mastercard is the Yankees’ preferred card partner. There are no cash-to-card kiosks. If you carry cash only, you will not be able to buy anything inside.
Order Food via Uber Eats (No Extra Fees)
The Yankees offer in-stadium mobile ordering through the Uber Eats app. Open the app, select Yankee Stadium as your location, and order from the concession menu for pickup at a designated window. Per the official Yankees gameday guide, menu prices are identical to ordering at the counter, with no additional fees. This is the fastest way to skip the 4th-inning concession crush.
Monument Park: You Have a 45-Minute Window
Monument Park — the plaques, monuments, and retired numbers in center field — is free for all ticketed fans. But it closes 45 minutes before first pitch, and the entry line closes before the park itself fills. It is first-come, first-served.
Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch for most games. The math: you have a 45-minute window between gate opening and Monument Park closing. Go directly to center field when you enter. If you stop at the concessions first, you will likely miss it on a busy game night.
Yankees Museum: Free, Less Crowded, Open Until the 8th
Located at Section 210 on the Main Level, the Yankees Museum is free to all ticketed fans and stays open through the end of the 8th inning. It holds all seven World Series trophies from the 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009 championships, plus the “Ball Wall” — 870 autographed baseballs. Crowds here are much lighter than Monument Park. A good fallback if you arrive at gate opening and the Monument Park line is already long.
Accessibility and Sensory Resources
Yankee Stadium has a dedicated quiet sensory room on the Terrace Level near Section 320C. Free sensory kits — noise-canceling headsets and fidget tools — are available to borrow (with a valid ID or credit card deposit) at Guest Relations booths near Gate 6, Section 128, and Section 320C. Assistive listening devices are available at the same three locations.
Wheelchair-accessible and aisle-transfer seats are available across the stadium at various price points. For ADA parking, contact City Parking directly at (718) 588-7817. Full accessibility details: mlb.com/yankees/ballpark/information/disabled-services.
Parking: Prebook or Take the Train
The Yankees do not own or operate any parking facilities. City Parking manages all lots and garages under a city contract. The three primary garages nearest the stadium:
- Ruppert Plaza Garage — 1 Macombs Dam Park
- 161st Street Garage — 20 East 161st Street
- River Avenue Garage — 950 River Avenue
Book at cityparking.nyc or call (718) 588-7817. Lots fill quickly on busy games. The stadium’s official recommendation is public transit: the 4 train runs 24 hours and stops at 161 St–Yankee Stadium, directly at Gate 6.
Security: What Actually Slows the Line
All gates use metal detector screening. You do not need to remove belts, jackets, or shoes. What slows lines: hard-sided bags (they cannot enter and there is no storage), whole uncut fruit (sliced fruit is permitted), glass bottles or cans, and bags that exceed the 16″ x 16″ x 8″ limit. A rejected bag at the gate goes back to your car — there is no option to check it on site.
