Manhattan CB6 Community Meetings: June 2026 Schedule

Midtown and Chelsea residents, your community board has a packed calendar this week — and several of June’s meetings are addressing topics that directly affect how you live, work, and get around. Here’s a full rundown of what’s happening at Manhattan Community Board 6 (CB6) this week and across the month, so you can show up, tune in, or just stay informed.

What Is Community Board 6?

Manhattan Community Board 6 covers a large swath of Midtown and the East Side, including the neighborhoods of Kips Bay, Murray Hill, Gramercy Park, Tudor City, Turtle Bay, and the waterfront along the East River from 14th Street to 59th Street. The board’s volunteer members advise the city on everything from zoning and liquor licenses to parks and public safety — and every meeting is open to you.

This Week’s CB6 Meetings

Business Affairs & Licensing — Tuesday, June 2, 6:30 PM

The Business Affairs & Licensing committee meets first, on Tuesday, June 2 at 6:30 PM. One of the key agenda items is a discussion of CB6’s role in reviewing Community Impact Plans for cannabis licenses — a topic that affects every block in the district as retail cannabis continues to expand across the city. Also on the agenda: the standard list of liquor license applications for the district. This meeting is hybrid: in-person at 211 East 43rd Street, Suite 1404, and via Zoom (register at cbsix.org).

Public Safety & Sanitation — Thursday, June 4, 6:30 PM

On Thursday, June 4 at 6:30 PM, the Public Safety & Sanitation committee meets to discuss crime prevention and public safety conditions across the district. If you have concerns about your block — lighting, street conditions, or local enforcement patterns — this is the meeting to attend or submit comments for. Hybrid at 211 East 43rd Street, Suite 1404 / Zoom.

Coming Up Later in June

  • Budget & Governmental Affairs — Monday, June 8 at 6:30 PM — The agenda includes a continued discussion on the cost and availability of insurance for residential properties, a growing concern for renters and homeowners as insurance markets tighten across New York.
  • Full Board Meeting — Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00 PM — Held at the Lewis Davis Pavilion at 25 Waterside Plaza. Members of the public can speak during the public session by submitting a comment form at cbsix.org before 7:15 PM that evening. Zoom attendance is strongly recommended as in-person space is limited.
  • Health, Education & Environment — Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 PM — NYU Langone Health will present on heat stroke prevention and how to handle heat exposure safely. The meeting also covers the city’s FY 2028 budget requests for water, sewers, and environmental protection.
  • Housing & Homelessness — Monday, June 15 at 6:30 PM — The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) will present on affordable housing programs. The committee also continues its discussion on the future of the 30th Street Men’s Shelter site — a long-running conversation about what replaces one of the district’s most significant social service facilities.

How to Participate

All CB6 meetings are open to the public. Most are hybrid, with an in-person option at 211 East 43rd Street, Suite 1404 (limited seating) and a Zoom option. Registration links for each meeting are listed at cbsix.org/meetings-calendar. You can also subscribe to individual committee calendars so you never miss a relevant meeting.

To speak at the Full Board meeting, submit the public comment form on the CB6 website before 7:15 PM the night of the meeting. Commercial solicitation and electioneering are not permitted during public comment.

Why It Matters

Community boards are the most direct form of civic participation available to New Yorkers who aren’t running for office. Their recommendations carry real weight with City Council members, the Department of City Planning, and city agencies. If a new development is planned on your block, a restaurant is applying for an outdoor café, or a street redesign is being proposed in your neighborhood, your community board is where that conversation starts.

The Housing & Homelessness committee’s June 15 meeting is particularly worth watching for anyone interested in the 30th Street shelter site — a significant footprint in a dense neighborhood whose future is still being decided.
