June in New York City is Pride month — and the city’s dog community celebrates right alongside it. Between Woof Fest at Manhattan West, Bark in the Park at Maimonides, weekly paint-and-sip nights at a dog-friendly Upper East Side restaurant, and free puppy socialization every Thursday, there is genuinely no better month to be a dog owner in this city. Here’s your guide to what’s happening and how to make the most of it.
Woof Fest: Paws for Pride — June 6 at Manhattan West
The city’s most beloved dog-friendly Pride event is back for its sixth year. Woof Fest: Paws for Pride takes over Manhattan West Plaza on Saturday, June 6 from noon to 3pm, bringing a free afternoon of performances, activities, and community for dogs and their humans.
The signature event is the “Walk of Pride” Catwalk Contest at 1:30pm — dogs and owners strut the catwalk in their most festive attire for a chance to win prizes in two categories: Most Pride: Dog and Most Pride: Prideful Pair. No registration required to compete.
Ongoing activities from noon to 3pm include interactive installations, photo ops, community booths, and treats. Festive Pride attire is encouraged for both you and your pup.
- When: Saturday, June 6, 12–3pm
- Where: Manhattan West Plaza, 385 9th Avenue, Midtown Manhattan
- Cost: Free — open to the public, space permitting

Bark in the Park: Brooklyn Cyclones — June 23
If your dog has never attended a minor league baseball game, June 23 is the date to fix that. The Brooklyn Cyclones bring back their popular Bark in the Park night at Maimonides Park in Coney Island on Tuesday, June 23 — gates at 6:00pm, first pitch at 6:40pm.
Tickets are $23 per person (includes a Cyclones Bark in the Park cap) or $17 without the cap. Each human ticket covers entry for up to two dogs. Seating is in Sections 22 and 24 in the main bowl. There’s also a pre-game pup parade around the field starting 45 minutes before first pitch — line up between Sections 22 and 24.

Weekly: Sip and Paint a Pet Portrait — Every Friday at Barking Dog
For a more intimate dog-friendly evening, the Sip and Paint Pet Portrait event runs every Friday evening at Barking Dog restaurant on the Upper East Side. Artist Michele Cahill guides you through painting a watercolor portrait of your own pet — she draws the outline for you first, so no artistic background needed. Your dog is welcome to join you in person (well-behaved, leashed dogs only).

Puppies play in a sanitized, safe environment under professional trainer guidance — a huge help for young dogs who haven’t had much social time yet.

June Dog Park Essentials
Beyond the events, June’s warm weather makes it prime time to use the city’s network of dog runs and off-leash areas. A few reminders:
- Off-leash hours in NYC parks are generally before 9am and after 9pm in designated areas. Outside those windows, dogs must stay on-leash.
- Riverside Park has six dedicated dog runs along its six-mile stretch — from 72nd Street up to West Harlem. Full map at riversideparknyc.org.
- Heat safety: NYC asphalt can reach dangerous temperatures by mid-morning in June. Walk dogs on grass where possible and skip midday pavement. If the sidewalk is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
- Water: Pack a collapsible bowl. Many NYC parks have low water spigots for dogs, but bring your own supply to be safe.
Pro Tips
- Sign the Woof Fest waiver in advance at manhattanwestnyc.com/event/woof-fest-2026 — it’s one per person and saves time at check-in on June 6.
- For Bark in the Park, book early — Cyclones dog nights sell out. Visit brooklyncyclones.com and select Sections 22 or 24.
- The NYC Parks dog run locator at nycgovparks.org/facilities/dogareas lists all permitted off-leash areas by borough with hours and amenities.
- For lower-key outings, dog runs at Fort Greene Park, McGolrick Park (Greenpoint), and Morningside Park are excellent less-crowded alternatives this time of year.
June gives dog owners in this city a particular gift: a full calendar of events purpose-built for you and your pup, in some of the most electric settings New York has to offer. Whether you’re walking the Woof Fest catwalk, cheering on the Cyclones with your dog at your feet, or just painting a watercolor portrait on a Friday evening, the city is fully on board. Get out there.
