Openings
Dean’s — SoHo (Now Open)
If you’ve eaten at King on Sullivan Street, you already know Jess Shadbolt and Annie Shi know how to run a room. Their new spot Dean’s opened March 31 right next door and it’s everything a great pub should be: no reservations, mostly walk-in, and anchored by the kind of food that makes you want to stay for one more pint. Shadbolt grew up near the Suffolk coast, and the menu reflects it — the centerpiece is a stargazy pie (yes, that’s a fish pie with the fish head poking through the crust), alongside more approachable bites, English wines, and Guinness on tap. It’s casual and a little theatrical in the best way.

Guardian at the W — Union Square (Now Open)
Union Square finally has a rooftop bar. Guardian opened March 30 on the 21st floor of the newly renovated W New York – Union Square (the hotel just completed a $100 million overhaul), and the vibe is exactly what you’d expect from AvroKO, the design firm behind Quality Bistro. Think Warhol-era New York filtered through a cleaner lens — graffiti-lined stairwell, gold-toned murals, and sweeping downtown views. Open daily 4pm–11pm; reservations via Resy (note: $75 minimum spend for seated bookings).

Let’s Chama Bakery (Chama Mama) — Bushwick, Brooklyn (Now Open)
The Georgian restaurant group behind Chama Mama has expanded into Bushwick with a new 6,300-square-foot flagship at 81 Morgan Ave that combines their full restaurant with a new bakery concept called Let’s Chama. The bakery side runs 8am–6pm on weekdays and turns out khachapuri (the cheesy Georgian bread boat you need in your life), mushroom pies, chocolate cigaretti, and specialty lattes. Great destination if you’re heading to the Bushwick area and want to experience Georgian food beyond just dinner.

Bar Ferdinando — Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (Opens April 15)
Ferdinando’s Focacceria at 151 Union Street held down Carroll Gardens for over 121 years before closing in early 2025. Now restaurateur Sal Lamboglia — the mind behind neighboring spots Cafe Spaghetti and Swoony’s — is taking over the address and honoring its legacy with Bar Ferdinando. Expect aperitivi, amaro cocktails, martinis, a riff on the Brooklyn-classic Manhattan Special espresso soda, and a lunchtime food menu with Sicilian-inspired bites. Opens April 15.

Oyatte — Midtown, Manhattan (Opening Soon)
Chef Hasung Lee is opening Oyatte, a 30-seat tasting-menu-only restaurant at East 39th Street and Lexington Avenue. Reservations opened April 4. If you follow the NYC Korean fine dining scene, this one is worth tracking closely.

Closing
Barbetta — Theater District (Closed February 27, 2026)
One of New York’s oldest restaurants, Barbetta had been a Restaurant Row fixture at 321 West 46th Street for nearly 120 years before shutting its doors on February 27, following the passing of longtime owner Laura Maioglio at age 93. It’s a genuine end of an era — not just for the Theater District, but for the entire idea of the grande dame Italian restaurant in New York. If you ever had a pre-theater dinner there, you know how irreplaceable it was.
📍 321 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036 (permanently closed)
