Quick Bites: London cult-favorite Dishoom confirms its first-ever U.S. location is coming to Lower Manhattan this year. Filipino-American cocktail bar June Baby is gunning for 4 AM last calls. Bar Susanne is already pouring scallop crudo on the Williamsburg waterfront. And Café Bar J.F. rises from the Llama Inn ashes with a South American soul.
The NYC dining calendar is not slowing down heading into June. Here is everything that landed, or officially closed, in the last 48 hours.
New Openings
Bar Susanne — Williamsburg (Now Open)
The waterfront seat everyone has been waiting for this summer: Bar Susanne opened May 15 at 6 River Street, Domino Park, Brooklyn, right on the East River. The seafood-forward menu leans coastal and breezy — scallop crudo, crab salad, fluke Milanese — with a drinks program that matches the view. If you want the best summer patio in Williamsburg right now, this is it.
Cafe Bar J.F. — Williamsburg (Now Open)
When Llama Inn closed, the team did not go quietly. They kept the space and relaunched as Cafe Bar J.F., a South American-inspired tavern with Peruvian-inflected small plates, punchy cocktails, and the same kitchen pedigree that made Llama Inn a destination. Location is the same Williamsburg address Llama Inn occupied.
June Baby — Coming Very Soon
The Filipino-American cocktail bar from co-owner Darwin Pornel is one of the most anticipated openings of early summer. The concept: classic cocktails with a Filipino twist, paired with pork adobo, kilawin, and other drinking snacks built for late nights. June Baby is aiming to stay open until 4 AM seven days a week, which would make it one of the few serious cocktail bars in the city operating at those hours. Seating for 42. No address has been confirmed yet — follow their channels for the exact date and location.
Dishoom — Lower Manhattan (Later in 2026)
This is not a drill. London’s Dishoom — the Bombay-style cafe that has been selling out reservations for over a decade — has officially confirmed its first-ever U.S. location will be in Lower Manhattan. The restaurant is famous for its house black daal, bacon naan rolls, and the kind of all-day breakfast that makes Londoners queue in the rain. No exact address or opening date has been announced yet, but the 2026 commitment is official. This one is going to be a scene.
Sendo — Greenwich Village (Now Open)
Still drawing first-week crowds: Sendo at 43 West 8th Street, Greenwich Village, the budget-friendly omakase counter from chef Tsuyoshi Takahashi (formerly of Sushi Noz). Omakase sets start around $34, making it one of the most accessible counter experiences in Manhattan right now.
On the Radar This Summer
Two more openings to watch: Golden Child, a 3,000-square-foot Italian-American rooftop bar opening atop Hotel Park Ave in NoMad with outdoor terrace seating and a cocktail-forward menu. And Cleo, a Paris-London-Montreal rotisserie concept headed to the West Village with rotisserie chicken, fries, salads, and natural wine. Both are expected before Labor Day.
Closings to Note
Llama Inn is gone in its original form — though as noted above, the team pivoted immediately to Cafe Bar J.F. in the same space. Gertie, the beloved Jew-ish diner at 357 Grand Street in Williamsburg, closed in June 2025 and relocated to a counter-service format in Prospect Heights at 602 Vanderbilt Avenue — if you miss the OG vibe, that is where to find the latke bar now.
That is the Sunday morning rundown. Eat something good today.
