Good morning, New York. It’s Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and there are several service changes still rolling through the system from this past weekend’s planned work. Here’s what you need to know before you swipe in.
What Lines Are Affected Today
2 and 3 Lines — Brooklyn (Clark St Tunnel Work)
The big one: 2 and 3 train service remains suspended in Brooklyn through 5 a.m. Monday, April 9, as part of the MTA’s Fix & Fortify Sandy Recovery project in the Clark Street Tunnel. If you normally ride the 2 or 3 through Brooklyn, you’ll need to adjust your commute.
- Clark St and Hoyt St stations are closed — no service available at either stop
- 4 and 5 trains are running local in Brooklyn to help fill the gap
- Consider the A/C lines as an alternate route through Downtown Brooklyn
J Line — Eastern Brooklyn/Queens
J trains are suspended in both directions between Crescent St and Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer through approximately 10 p.m. tonight (Sunday, April 8). This is part of drain cleaning under the Subway Action Plan, plus ongoing station rehab work along the corridor.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Crescent St and 121 St, making all J line station stops
- Shuttles connect with the E train at Jamaica–Van Wyck for continued service into Manhattan
- Build in extra time — shuttle buses don’t move as fast as trains
A Line — Manhattan
A trains are running local in both directions between Canal St and 59 St–Columbus Circle through 5 a.m. Monday, April 9. The MTA is performing communications system improvements along this stretch. If you ride the A express through Midtown, expect a slower ride with additional stops.
N and R Lines — Brooklyn
Coney Island–Stillwell Av bound N and R trains are running express in Brooklyn from Atlantic Av–Barclays Ctr to 59 St through 5 a.m. Monday, April 9. This is for electrical improvements. If you need a local stop between Atlantic Av and 59 St on the southbound trip, you’ll need to use an alternate line or double back.
G Line — Ongoing Signal Modernization
The G line’s multi-year signal modernization project continues in 2026. The MTA is replacing the original 90-year-old signal system with modern communications-based train control (CBTC) technology. While no G line shutdowns are scheduled for this midweek period, riders should stay alert for upcoming weekend service changes when trains may not run between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av or between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
4 Train — Yankee Stadium Area
A quick note for Bronx riders: elevators at the 4 train station near Yankee Stadium remain closed for several more weeks. If you rely on elevator access at this station, plan an alternate route or allow extra time to navigate stairs.
Commuter Tip
With multiple lines affected simultaneously, Wednesday is a good day to check the MTA app before you leave home. The 2/3 suspension in Brooklyn plus the A running local in Manhattan means Downtown Brooklyn and Midtown commuters could face cascading delays during rush hour. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes, and if you’re flexible, consider shifting to an off-peak departure time. Download service change alerts at mta.info/alerts so you’re never caught off guard.
