Staten Island has a genuinely full weekend ahead. A Pride festival at Snug Harbor, a ranger-led coastal bike tour at Great Kills Park, community arts at Tappen Park, a beach cleanup at Lemon Creek Pier, and a children’s musical at Wagner College are all happening within 48 hours. Here is what to catch before Sunday night.
Pride Festival at Snug Harbor — Saturday
On Saturday, May 30 from noon, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden (1000 Richmond Terrace) hosts a Pride Festival. Snug Harbor is one of Staten Island’s most distinctive spaces — a 19th-century complex of Greek Revival buildings set within a botanical garden along the North Shore waterfront. The festival brings community organizations, local vendors, and live programming to the grounds. Admission to the grounds is free; some events inside buildings may require separate tickets. This is a strong option for families, couples, or anyone who wants to celebrate community and enjoy one of Staten Island’s most beautiful open spaces simultaneously.
Beachy Bike Tour With NYC Park Rangers — Saturday Morning
NYC Parks Urban Park Rangers are leading a Beachy Bike Tour on Saturday, May 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. starting at Cedar Grove, Great Kills Park on Staten Island’s South Shore. Riders follow the coastline as rangers highlight local history and nature along the way. Bring your own bicycle and helmet. Free and no registration required. Great Kills Park sits along the Lower New York Bay and offers some of the most accessible waterfront cycling in the five boroughs.
Roc-A-Natural Arts in the Park — Saturday
The Roc-A-Natural 3rd Annual Arts in the Park event runs Saturday, May 30 from noon at Tappen Park in the Stapleton neighborhood. Local artists, performers, and vendors gather in one of Staten Island’s central North Shore parks. Free and family-friendly. Tappen Park is walkable from the St. George Ferry Terminal, making this an easy addition to a Staten Island day trip from Manhattan or Brooklyn.
Shrek Jr. at Wagner College — Saturday Evening
On Saturday, May 30 at 7 p.m., Actor Children’s Theatre presents Shrek Jr. at Wagner College Theatre (1 Campus Road, Grymes Hill). A full-length youth musical production on one of the Island’s most prominent stages. An excellent option for families on Saturday night. Contact Actor Children’s Theatre for tickets and seating.
Lemon Creek Beach Cleanup — Saturday Morning
Community volunteers are gathering at Lemon Creek Pier (Sharrott Avenue, Dorothy Fitzpatrick Fishing Pier) from 10 a.m. on Saturday for a beach cleanup. Staten Island has more than 30 miles of waterfront, and community stewardship events along the South Shore are a consistent part of borough culture. Free and open to all — no registration required.

Staten Island rarely gets the credit it deserves as a weekend destination. A Saturday that starts with a coastal bike ride along the oceanfront, moves through an arts festival, and ends with live musical theater is a full day by any borough’s measure.
