Yankees vs. Blue Jays. First pitch 7:05 PM ET, Yankee Stadium, One East 161st Street, the Bronx. Here is the logistics-only walkthrough for tonight, May 18, 2026 — how to get there, where to park, which gate to use, what you can bring, and how to get home.

Tonight’s Game

Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays. Scheduled first pitch is 7:05 PM ET at Yankee Stadium per the official Yankees schedule on MLB.com. Gates 6 and 8 open at 5:05 PM (two hours before first pitch); Gates 2 and 4 plus Babe Ruth Plaza open at 5:35 PM (90 minutes before), per the official gate openings page.

Best Transit Route (Cheapest, Most Reliable)

Take the subway. The 161 St-Yankee Stadium station sits at the corner of East 161st Street and River Avenue — directly across from the ballpark. The 4 train (Lexington Avenue local from Manhattan and the East Side) and the D train (Sixth Avenue from Manhattan and Brooklyn) both stop here on game nights. Rush-hour express trains also stop at 161 St-Yankee Stadium before weeknight games. This is an accessible trip. Source: MTA Yankee Stadium guide.

Walking time from the platform to your gate: About 3 to 5 minutes. Exit the station, cross under the elevated tracks on River Avenue, and Gate 6 sits directly in front of you. The Great Hall entrance is between Gates 4 and 6.

Metro-North alternative

Coming from Westchester, Connecticut, or Grand Central? Metro-North runs to Yankees-E 153rd Street station on the Hudson Line — about a 15-minute ride from Grand Central, per the MTA. For weekday evening games, the MTA runs special direct Yankee Clipper trains on the Harlem and New Haven Lines straight to Yankees-E 153rd Street. From the station it is a short signed walk along East 153rd Street to Gate 6 or Gate 8.

Bus options

Five MTA bus routes stop near the stadium per the Yankees’ official directions page: Bx6 and Bx13 stop at East 161st Street and River Avenue; Bx1 and Bx2 stop at East 161st Street and the Grand Concourse (a short walk to the ballpark); BxM4 stops at the Grand Concourse and East 161st Street northbound, East 158th Street southbound. All MTA buses are accessible.

Driving and Parking

Yankee Stadium is reached from the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87). Northbound I-87 use Exit 4 (East 149th Street/145th Street Bridge) or Exit 5 (East 161st Street/Macombs Dam Bridge). Southbound I-87 use Exit 5. GPS address: One East 161st Street, Bronx, NY. Source: official directions and parking page.

The Yankees do not operate the stadium parking — City Parking does. To lock in a spot and the lowest legal rate, prepay directly through City Parking at cityparking.nyc/yankee-stadium/events or call (718) 588-7817. Walk-up rates at the gate are higher and lots can fill up.

Official lots accepting prepaid parking (per the Yankees’ postseason parking advisory, valid year-round):

  • Ruppert Plaza Garage — 1 Macombs Dam Park (closest to Gates 2 and 4; ~3 minute walk)
  • 161st Street Garage — 20 East 161st Street (~5 minute walk to Gate 4)
  • River Avenue Garage — 950 River Avenue (~5 minute walk to Gate 6)
  • 164th Street Garage — north of the stadium (~5 minute walk to Gate 2)

Pricing changes per event and demand; only City Parking sets the rate. We do not publish a number we cannot verify against the operator’s live page tonight.

Which Gate to Use

Per the official gate locations page, Yankee Stadium has four pedestrian gates:

  • Gate 2 — Jerome Avenue and 164th Street (closest to Ruppert Plaza Garage)
  • Gate 4 — Jerome Avenue and 161st Street (closest to the Great Hall main entrance)
  • Gate 6 — River Avenue and 161st Street (closest to the 4/D subway)
  • Gate 8 — River Avenue, south of 164th Street (closest to the Bleachers and Monument Park)

If you are taking the subway, Gate 6 is your default. If you want Monument Park or Bleacher access early, walk to Gate 8 — it opens two hours before first pitch (5:05 PM tonight).

Accessibility Entrance and Services

Per the official Yankee Stadium Guide for Guests with Disabilities:

  • Gate 2 has two elevators serving the Main and Terrace/Grandstand Levels, and a ramp on the left-field side.
  • The Suite Entrance adjacent to Gate 4 has two elevators to the Great Hall Landing.
  • Gate 6 has two elevators serving the New York Yankees Museum and a ramp on the right-field side.

Bag Policy and What Not to Bring

Per the official Yankee Stadium Entry and Carry-In Policy, all guests are screened through metal detectors at every gate. MLB-compliant bags only: soft-sided, maximum 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches. Plus one small soft-sided personal item.

Allowed: empty reusable non-glass water bottles up to 24 oz, or factory-sealed clear plastic water bottles up to 1 liter. Food for individual consumption is allowed (sliced fruit only — no whole apples or oranges).

Prohibited (partial list, full list on the official page): hard-sided bags or containers, glass bottles, cans, baseball bats, laser pens, selfie sticks, professional camera equipment, drones, laptops, weapons, alcohol, brooms or poles, skateboards, animals (except service animals), air horns, aerosol cans, balloons, masks, projectiles, confetti, and signs that do not comply with the official sign policy.

There is no bag storage at Yankee Stadium. If you arrive with a prohibited item, you will not be allowed to check it. Plan accordingly — especially if you are coming straight from work or the airport.

Re-Entry

Yankee Stadium operates as a no re-entry venue once you are scanned in. If you leave, you cannot return on the same ticket. Plan your food, restroom, and outside-air breaks accordingly before you enter.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located on every concourse level inside the stadium — Field Level, Main Level, Terrace, and Grandstand. The Great Hall has the largest cluster nearest the main entrances at Gates 4 and 6.

Outside the stadium, before you enter: the 161 St-Yankee Stadium subway station does not have public restrooms. The closest reliable public option is inside Ruppert Plaza Garage at 1 Macombs Dam Park, or at the Metro-North Yankees-E 153rd Street station during game-day service. Restaurants and bars on River Avenue (see below) have facilities for paying customers.

Where Locals Eat and Drink Before the Game

Five legitimate options within a 5-minute walk of the stadium, all on or near River Avenue / East 161st Street:

  • Stan’s Sports Bar — 836 River Avenue, directly under the 4 train. Yankee-game institution since 1979. Beer and bar food; cash and card. Expect a line 90 minutes before first pitch.
  • Yankee Tavern — 72 East 161st Street, since 1923. Burgers, wings, drafts. Walking distance to Gates 4 and 6.
  • Billy’s Sports Bar — 856 River Avenue. Quick service, sports-bar pricing, multiple TVs.
  • Dunkin’ (River Avenue) — Cheapest pre-game coffee and breakfast sandwich within sight of the subway.
  • Concourse Plaza area dining — Walk one block east to the Grand Concourse for sit-down options including chain restaurants near 161st Street.

For a longer sit-down meal before the game, head to Arthur Avenue in Belmont (a quick bus or rideshare north). It is the Bronx’s Little Italy and worth the side trip if you are arriving 3+ hours early.

Getting Home: Last Train and Bus

Yankees games typically end between 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM. The 4 train and D train run frequent service well past midnight from 161 St-Yankee Stadium — the 4 train operates 24 hours. Expect heavy crowds for the first 30 minutes after the final out; if you want a seat, wait 10 minutes at the station.

Metro-North runs additional post-game departures from Yankees-E 153rd Street. Check the MTA TrainTime app for the exact post-game schedule tonight — it shows the live timetable and your fare.
