Sing Along with History
For something truly unique, head to the Noble Maritime Collection on January 18, 2026, for their monthly Sea Shanty Sessions. Featured in our Staten Island Event Guide, this event keeps the maritime history of the harbor alive through song.
What is a Sea Shanty Session?
Led by the Folk Music Society of New York, this gathering invites pros and novices alike to sing traditional work songs of the sea. It takes place in a museum dedicated to the artist John A. Noble, surrounded by houseboats and harbor artifacts.
Why You Should Go
It’s authentic, free (or pay-what-you-wish), and deeply connected to Staten Island’s DNA as a waterfront borough. It’s a low-pressure, high-spirit community event that tourists rarely find but always love.
