Queens Community Board Meetings This Week: Transportation, Safety, and Land Use

Queens has more community board meetings this week than any other borough, and the topics on the table read like a checklist of things residents actually care about: transportation, public safety, housing, and park access. Community Board 2, which covers Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City, and Astoria, is leading the charge with a meeting nearly every night this week.

Community Board 2: A Full Week of Committee Meetings

If there’s one community board in Queens that’s earning its keep this month, it’s CB2. Here’s what’s on tap this week:

Tuesday, April 7 — Transportation Committee at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Board 2 Office, 43-22 50th Street, Suite 2B, Woodside. This is a hybrid meeting with Zoom access available. If you’ve been frustrated by bus routes, bike lanes, or street safety in western Queens, this is where you can say something about it.

Wednesday, April 8 — City Services & Public Safety Committee at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Board 2 Office. Another hybrid session covering everything from sanitation pickup to NYPD precinct updates. This committee is the place to raise issues about noise complaints, street lighting, and emergency response in your area.

Thursday, April 9 — Full Community Board 2 Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Sunnyside Community Services, 43-31 39th Street, ground floor, Sunnyside. This is the monthly full-board session where all committee reports come together and the board votes on resolutions. If you’re going to attend one meeting this month, this is the one.

More CB2 Meetings Later in April

The CB2 schedule doesn’t let up after this week. Upcoming sessions include the Health & Human Services, Education, Unhoused & Shelter Committee on April 13 at 6:00 p.m., the Arts & Cultural Affairs Committee on April 14 at 6:00 p.m., Land Use & Housing on April 15 at 6:00 p.m., and the Environment, Parks & Recreation Committee on April 23 at 6:30 p.m. Every one of these meetings is open to the public and accessible via Zoom.

Other Queens Community Board Meetings This Month

CB2 isn’t the only board with a full dance card. Here’s what else is coming up across the borough:

If you’ve been attending meetings and want to have an official seat at the table, this is your chance. Community board members serve two-year terms and are appointed by the Borough President.
