Staten Island’s April calendar is a mix of neighborhood markets, civic meetings, and one of the borough’s biggest annual business events. Whether you want to browse local vendors at a historic waterfront hall, weigh in on neighborhood issues at a community board meeting, or network with fellow business owners, there’s something on the schedule this week and throughout the month.
Edgewater Hall Spring Market — Through April 11
The Edgewater Hall Spring Market continues its Saturday run this week, open from noon to 4:00 p.m. at historic Edgewater Hall, 691 Bay Street in Stapleton. The market features local artisans, food vendors, and handmade goods in one of Staten Island’s most atmospheric waterfront venues. The final Saturday of the spring market series is April 11, so this week and next are your last chances to catch it before it wraps up.
Community Board Meetings: CB1 and CB2 This Month
Staten Island has three community boards, and two of them have meetings coming up this month. Community Board 1, covering the North Shore including St. George, Tompkinsville, and Stapleton, meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. — which puts their April meeting on April 14. CB2, covering the Mid-Island area including New Dorp and Dongan Hills, meets on the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., targeting April 21.
These meetings are free and open to the public. For confirmed dates, agendas, and locations, contact CB1 at 718-981-6900 or CB2 at 718-568-3581, or visit their pages on nyc.gov.
Arbor Day Celebration — April 24
On Thursday, April 24, Staten Island hosts an Arbor Day Celebration from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The meetup point is at Willowbrook Road and Forest Road, near the Greenbelt. This family-friendly event is a great way to connect with neighbors while celebrating the borough’s impressive canopy of green space — Staten Island has more tree coverage per capita than any other borough in the city.
SIEDC 27th Annual Business Conference — April 29
The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation’s 27th Annual Business Conference is the borough’s biggest networking and business awareness event of the year. It takes place on Wednesday, April 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn New York/Staten Island. Presented by Northfield Bank and Spectrum, the full-day conference features keynote addresses, educational and interactive sessions, a 100-plus vendor expo, the “20 Under 40” Leadership Awards, and premier networking opportunities.
If you own a business or work on Staten Island, this is the one event you don’t want to skip. Tickets and registration details are available on the SIEDC’s Eventbrite page.
St. George Theatre Events
The St. George Theatre, Staten Island’s premier performing arts venue, has two big shows this month. Forever K-Pop takes the stage on Saturday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m., and One Night of Queen featuring Gary Mullen & The Works performs on Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. Both events draw crowds from across the borough and beyond.
