NYC Restaurant Openings & Closings: April 6, 2026 — Ayat Hind’s Hall, Crybaby Wine Bar, Tin’s & More

Quick Bites: Ayat’s Palestinian restaurant Hind’s Hall is now serving on the Upper West Side, Crybaby brings French Alpine wines to the Bowery, Tin’s preps a sheng jian bao and cocktail den on the Lower East Side, and City Island Restaurant Week kicks off tomorrow.

Openings

Ayat Hind’s Hall — Upper West Side (Now Open)

The buzzy Palestinian restaurant group Ayat has officially arrived on the Upper West Side. Hind’s Hall held a packed surprise soft opening on March 30 and is now taking regular walk-ins and reservations. The menu is pure Palestinian soul food — think mansaf feasts, shawarma and laffa wraps, fried halloumi, hummus, labneh, and baba ghanoush. The space replaces the former Mama’s Pizza at the corner of 106th and Amsterdam, just blocks from Columbia University. If you’ve hit any of Ayat’s other locations, you know the portions are generous and the flavors are bold. This one’s going to be packed.

Crybaby Vinbar — Bowery (Now Open)

Sommelier Cameron Philip (formerly of Michelin-starred Contento) has opened Crybaby, a wine bar at the corner of Bowery and Broome that’s built around the wines of France’s Jura and Savoie regions — oxidative whites, light reds, and vin jaune. The 1,200-square-foot space seats about 70 across a main dining room and a downstairs wine cellar, with blush pink walls, green banquettes, and marble-topped tables. Philip is keeping markups deliberately modest, which is refreshing for a natural wine bar in Manhattan. The concept translates après-ski culture into a downtown setting, and yes, the bathroom has a sign inviting you to cry if you need to. Hospitality, baby.

Oriana — Nolita (Now Open)

The team behind the West Village’s The Noortwyck has opened Oriana in Nolita, and it’s all about live-fire cooking. The wood-fired grill turns out seafood, vegetables, and large-format meats, while the wine cellar holds a staggering 7,000 bottles — more than twice what The Noortwyck stocks. If you’re the type who wants to split a dry-aged steak for two and then argue about which bottle of Barolo to open, this is your room.

Coming Soon

Tin’s — Lower East Side (Opening Soon)

Philip Dizard (formerly of Shinji’s) and Mercury Tin are opening Tin’s, a hybrid sheng jian bao restaurant and cocktail bar at 109 Ludlow Street. The ground floor will serve pan-fried crispy soup dumplings from a chef who previously worked at Korean tasting menu spot bōm. Below that, a 25-foot cocktail bar on the lower level and a private bar in the sub-basement. The 3,600-square-foot space is one of the more ambitious LES openings this spring.

City Island Restaurant Week — The Bronx (April 7–12)

If you’ve been meaning to get out to City Island, this is your week. City Island Restaurant Week runs April 7 through 12 with prix fixe deals and specials at restaurants across the island. It’s one of the best-kept food secrets in the Bronx — seafood restaurants with waterfront views that feel nothing like the rest of the city. Check the City Island Chamber of Commerce for the full list of participating spots.

Closings

A quieter weekend on the closings front. No major permanent shutdowns announced in the last 48 hours. We’ll keep monitoring — if you hear about a spot closing its doors, drop us a line.
