Updated Sunday, May 3, 2026. If you’re moving around the city today or trying to plan your Monday morning, here are the planned subway service changes you actually need to know about. All weekend work runs through 5 a.m. Monday unless noted, and a few of these will absolutely scramble your commute if you don’t read ahead.

What Lines Are Affected Today

  • A and C trains — No local service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av until 10 p.m. Sunday
  • 1 train — Not running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St until 5 a.m. Monday
  • Rockaway Park Shuttle (S) — Suspended; free shuttle buses replacing service until 5 a.m. Monday
  • All buses citywide — Detours and delays from the Five Boro Bike Tour finishing today

Brooklyn: A/C Local Cut to New Lots

Track replacement work has the A and C local trains out of service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av. Free B99 shuttle buses are running between those stations and stopping at every intermediate stop. If you’re heading to or from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, Saratoga Av, Rockaway Av, Junius St, Pennsylvania Av, Van Siclen Av, or New Lots Av today, plan an extra 20-30 minutes. Service is scheduled to be restored by 10 p.m. tonight.

The Bronx: 1 Train Still Cut at the Top of the Line

Van Cortlandt Park-242 St remains out of service for station work through 5 a.m. Monday. The 1 train is running between 238 St and South Ferry on roughly an 8-minute headway. To reach 242 St, take a free shuttle bus from 238 St — they’re running continuously. Riders coming from Riverdale or heading to Manhattan College should leave a little earlier than usual to catch the connection.

The Rockaways: Shuttle Buses Stand In

The Rockaway Park Shuttle is suspended for track maintenance. Free shuttle buses are connecting Beach 90 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, with a transfer point at Beach 67 St. The A train continues to operate normally on the rest of the Rockaway branch. If you’re catching the ferry or heading to Jacob Riis Park, build in a buffer.

Citywide: Five Boro Bike Tour Bus Detours

The annual Five Boro Bike Tour is rolling through all five boroughs today, which means widespread street closures and bus detours through the afternoon. If you depend on a bus that crosses any of the major bridges or runs through Lower Manhattan, expect routes to be on detour or running with significant delays. Subway service is the more reliable option today.

Monday Morning Outlook

Most weekend work is scheduled to wrap by 5 a.m. Monday, including the 1 train restoration to Van Cortlandt Park and the Rockaway Park Shuttle. The A/C local should be back by 10 p.m. tonight. Translation: Monday’s commute should look normal across the system, barring any overnight slippage on track work. We’ll cover any carryover in tomorrow’s update.

Commuter Tip: If you ride the A or C through Brooklyn regularly, the express tracks aren’t affected by this weekend’s work — A express service is still running between Manhattan and Howard Beach/Far Rockaway. Switching from local to express at Utica Av and back at Euclid Av will get you around the closed segment without waiting for a shuttle bus.
