NYC Subway Weekend Service Alert: May 9–11, 2026 — E/M Shutdown, L Train Split, Bronx and Brooklyn Disruptions
E and M trains are suspended between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards, the L is running in two sections, and six other lines have changes this weekend. Here is what you need to know before you ride.

It’s a busy weekend on the subway, with multiple major service changes running from Friday night through early Monday morning. If you’re riding this weekend, plan ahead — the MTA’s Weekender has a long list. Here’s what’s affected and how to get around.

What Lines Are Affected

🚇 E/M Trains — Queens and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday through 3:30 a.m. Monday, E and M trains are not running between 74 St-Broadway (Jackson Heights, Queens) and 34 St-Hudson Yards (Manhattan) due to station work. This is a significant disruption — essentially the entire Manhattan segment of the M, plus Queens service on the E.

Your alternatives:

  • T320 shuttle bus — 74 St-Broadway to Queensboro Plaza, local stops
  • T323 shuttle bus — Queensboro Plaza to Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av, local stops
  • T260 shuttle bus — Overnight only, Times Sq-42 St to 34 St-Hudson Yards
  • Take F, M, R trains for Queens-to-Manhattan travel
  • The LIRR is accepting subway riders at no extra cost at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central Madison, and Penn Station. Ask for a GO Ticket at Queensboro Plaza or Court Sq.

Flushing-bound F/M/R trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point this weekend.

🚇 L Train — Brooklyn

From 4 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday, the L train is running in two separate sections due to signal work:

  • Between 8 Av and Broadway Junction: every 8 minutes (day and evening)
  • Between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy: every 10 minutes (day and evening)

Transfer at Broadway Junction to continue your trip. L trains to/from Canarsie are stopping at the J/Z/C platforms at Broadway Junction this weekend.

🚇 1/2/3 Trains — Upper West Side, Manhattan

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday, 1/2/3 trains are stopping at 79 St and 86 St in both directions due to structural maintenance. The 1 train runs every 8 minutes; 2/3 trains run every 12 minutes.

🚇 4 Train — The Bronx

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound 4 trains are skipping Mosholu Pkwy due to track replacement. Take a Woodlawn-bound 4 train to reach Mosholu Pkwy. The 4 runs every 8 minutes between Brooklyn and Kingsbridge Rd, and every 16 minutes between Kingsbridge Rd and Woodlawn.

🚇 6 Train — The Bronx

From 9:45 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound 6 trains are running express from Parkchester to 3 Av-138 St due to track replacement. For bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park–bound 6 train.

🚇 A/C Trains and J Train — Brooklyn

From 9:30 p.m. Friday through 5:30 a.m. Monday, Euclid Av–bound A/C trains and Queens-bound J local trains are not stopping at Ralph Av and Rockaway Av due to structural work. Take a Manhattan-bound train to access those stations.

🚇 F Train — Brooklyn

From 11:45 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island–bound F trains are running nonstop from 18 Av to Kings Hwy due to station work. For stops in between, take a Manhattan-bound F.

Plan Ahead for Sunday

All changes remain in effect through Sunday night and into early Monday morning. Build in extra travel time especially on the E/M corridor and the L through Brooklyn. Shuttle buses fill up quickly during evening hours. The MTA’s full Weekender guide — including an interactive map — is at mta.info.
